How to give agency access to LinkedIn

Last updated · every role links to a page checked against official help

The short answer

LinkedIn splits access in two. Ask for Campaign manager on the client's ad account in Campaign Manager, and Content admin on their Company Page. Ads need both: ad-account roles don't include the Page permissions you need to create ads or download Lead Gen Form leads.

Which role to ask for, by task

One row per job. Ask for the role in the second column and nothing broader: the smallest role that does the job is easier for the client to approve, easier to audit, and simpler to remove when the work ends.

What the client needs before starting

Only someone with these rights can add the agency. If your contact doesn't have them, ask who does first.

  • LinkedInAccount manager or Billing admin on the ad account; Super admin on the Page for the Page role.
  • LinkedIn ad accountAccount manager or Billing admin on the ad account.
  • LinkedIn Company PageSuper admin on the Company Page. The agency member must be a 1st–3rd degree connection and follow the Page.

  2. Page: in the super admin view, Settings → Manage admins → Page admins → Add admin.
  3. Search the agency member, choose Content admin and Save.

What breaks if the role is wrong

  • Missing · Run adsNo Page role: you can't create ads as the Page or download leads.
  • Too low · Ad accountViewer or Creative manager: you can't create campaigns or ad sets.
  • Too high · Ad accountAccount manager can add and remove users and edit account details.
  • Too low · Company PageAnalyst: analytics only, no posting.
  • Too high · Company PageSuper admin can remove other admins, including the client's.
