Ask for: Member with Publication access User access
Client needs: Workspace Admin or Owner on a paid Beehiiv plan with a free team seat.

Ask for Member with Publication access and nothing broader. The smallest role that does the job is easier for the client to approve, easier to audit later, and simpler to remove when the work ends. If the scope of work grows, ask again for the larger role rather than requesting it up front.

What the client clicks

Send these steps to the person who holds workspace admin or owner on a paid beehiiv plan with a free team seat. Tick them off as you go.

Click the Settings icon in the bottom left corner.
In the left panel, scroll to Workspace Settings and click Team.
Click Invite New User.
Enter the agency's email, set Permission Level to Publication (pick the newsletter), and set User Role to Member (or Contributor).
Click Send Email Invite. The agency accepts within 72 hours.

What breaks if the role is wrong

GotchaSeats include the Owner, and pending invites count until accepted or canceled. Free or Pro trial: 1 (Owner only). Lite: 2. Pro: 10. Enterprise: unlimited.
GotchaWorkspace access applies to every publication, including ones added later. Use Publication access for one newsletter.
GotchaInvite links expire after 72 hours; the client has to add you again.
GotchaFor a second publication, the client sends a separate invite per publication.
GotchaTrials can't invite anyone; the client must be on a paid plan.
GotchaMembers can't export data or use the API, so data exports stay with the client.
