What to ask for
- Ask for
- Partner access with the Campaign permission on the ad account Partner access
- Client needs
- A Pinterest business account with Business Manager, as Account Owner or Manager, plus your Pinterest business ID.
Ask for Partner access with the Campaign permission on the ad account and nothing broader. The smallest role that does the job is easier for the client to approve, easier to audit later, and simpler to remove when the work ends. If the scope of work grows, ask again for the larger role rather than requesting it up front.
| Permission | Level | Lets the agency |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | Ad account | Run ads |
| Analyst | Ad account | Reporting |
| Audience | Ad account | Audiences |
| Publisher | Profile | Organic Pins and boards |
| Catalog ad creator (Catalog admin to edit data sources) | Catalog | Shopping ads |

What breaks if the role is wrong
- GotchaAdd agencies as Partners, not Employees; Pinterest says that blocks sharing ad accounts.
- GotchaA personal Pinterest account can't use Business Manager.
- GotchaOnly the Account Owner or a Manager can add partners and grant permissions.
- GotchaFinance and Admin stay off unless the SOW includes billing.
